You’re beautiful, and not just on the inside

We’ve all heard it before: “God says you’re beautiful!” But what does He mean by that? Many people believe that He is referring to inner beauty. And while that may be true, He’s talking about our outer beauty as well.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 states,”He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”

That verse is referring to you. God has made everything beautiful in its time, including you.

There was a time in my life where I struggled to see my outer beauty. I had a friend who would call me ugly and would try to change my appearance. This led to several years of struggle with self-confidence. I failed to see my beauty.

But after countless prayers, I finally realized something. I was beautiful. God made me in His image, and he calls me beautiful, therefore I am.

The world’s standards of what we should look like are unattainable, yet we still strive to look the way the world tells us to. Why do we feel as though we must please the world? The world will never be pleased with our efforts, no matter how hard we try.

God tells us that we don’t need to try, because we are already beautiful. If you lack self-confidence, I hope that this speaks to you, or that you will remember it in a time of need. I’ve been there–I know how it feels. If you need help seeing the beauty that God gave you, pray to Him and ask for help.

“More Beautiful You” by Jonny Diaz is a good reminder as well that God has made us beautiful, and that we don’t have to strive to meet the world’s standards.
