Hope ignites our faith

Hope. It’s a word we all hear often, but we never really take the time to understand what it truly means. You probably use the word hope in your daily life. “I hope this happens” or “I hope I get this”. Hope in our language typically means “wish”. But hope is so much more than that. In the bible, hope is confidence and security. It’s trusting that God will take care of us, and will be by our side as we go through life. Hope is something that faith is built off of. Hope is what ignites our faith.

Not only does it ignite our faith, but it ignites the hope of others around us as well. If someone sees you demonstrating hope, they will be more than likely to take on your actions and adapt your sense of hope as well.

“He told them another parable: ‘The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.’” Matthew 13:31-32

The mustard seed in that parable can represent our hope in God. We each have our own little flame of hope within us. It’s small, but it will eventually grow and spread as we share the hope of God with others.

Take a few minutes and reflect on how you can demonstrate the hope you carry within you to others, and how you can help ignite that hope in them. Thank the Lord for the hope that has been planted within you, and ask for guidance on how to spread that light to others.
