Learning to say YES

Excuses excuses excuses. How often do we come up with an excuse for opportunities that arise, simply because we’re afraid to take a risk? Let me explain.

I’ve come to the realization recently that I tend to play it pretty safe in life. If any sort of risk is involved, I’m immediately wary of whatever the opportunity may be. So I turn it down, even if I know the risk could be worth it.

Job opportunities, traveling, even doing the things I love, too often I turn the opportunity away, simply because of fear.

One thing I’m learning is that it is completely valid to have fear in situations like that. Risk is a scary thing.

But there isn’t much reward to come out of a safe life. Sure, we can all be content in our little bubbles. But there is so much more out there—we just have to start saying yes.

That dream job opportunity? Take it! That trip you keep pushing back? Go there! That thing you’ve always wanted to do? DO IT!!

It’s okay to take risks. And it’s okay if you fail. Failing is just a part of life. It’s a way to learn—it’s life’s way of challenging you. If you keep trying, keep picking yourself back up whenever you fail, you’ll eventually make a breakthrough, and all those times you’ve failed will be worth it.

I wanted to share this with you because it’s something that’s been heavy on my mind recently. I’m going to start saying yes more, and I encourage you all to do the same.
