My favorite self-care activities

Hey everyone!

Today has been a bit of a slow day for me, which is surprising, because the past week has actually been a bit crazy (in a good way thankfully). Honestly, because things have been super busy lately, I haven’t had time to take some time for myself. But since today was a bit of a break from the craziness, I decided to take some time doing things that I love to do, and make it a bit of a self-care day.

I wanted to share a few of my favorite things to do on self-care days, because it’s incredibly important to spend time focusing on ourselves. So, here are some of my favorite self-care activities!

  1. Go shopping
This is usually my go-to! Whether it be shopping for clothes, home decor, or sometimes makeup/beauty products, I love getting out of the house to find a little treat for myself. Like today, I ended up stopping by Ulta to search for some of my favorite higher-end beauty products that I don’t buy quite as often. Whatever it may be, I will always jump on the opportunity to go shopping!
  2. Grab a coffee
Now, I’m an avid coffee drinker, but I usually try to make my coffee at home. It’s much more affordable, and super convenient. However, sometime you just have those days where going out and getting a special treat for yourself really puts you in a good mood! My go to is usually Starbucks, or sometimes I’ll hit up Frothy Monkey or Sam and Zoe’s. Yum!
  3. Play a game
For me, this usually means a video game. Lately, I’ve been playing the Sims (a go-to favorite of mine), but I also love playing Minecraft and Breath of the Wild. It’s so relaxing to just sit and get lost in another world!
  4. Go on a walk
This one is super important! If you’re able to, get outside! It’s amazing how much of a difference a small 20 minute walk can make. Usually, I’ll put on some Lo-Fi music and take a few laps around my apartment complex. There have been times where I ended up staying out for an hour, just because I was enjoying myself so much. It’s such a small thing, but it can really help out if you need some de-stressing time.
  5. Take care of my plants
I don’t know what it is, but there’s something about tending to my plants that is so relaxing to me. I have probably around 15-20 plants (mostly succulents), so it takes me a bit of time to care for them. But I love doing it–I love being a Plant Mom!
  6. Clean my apartment
While sometimes this can look like a stressful and daunting task, actually taking the initiative to clean your living space can be a huge de-stressor. And this can be any type of cleaning, whether it’s just routine vacuuming or sweeping, or taking the time to organize those boxes you shoved in the closet months ago. Plus, having a clean living space afterwards is a huge relief.
  7. At home spa day
An at home spa day is fantastic if you just want to take some time for yourself. Do a face mask, use that bath bomb you’ve always wanted to try, paint your nails, whatever you enjoy! It’s nice to just spoil yourself sometimes.
  8. Go to the pool
I’m so sad that summer is almost over, because going to the pool is my absolute favorite. I’ll usually read a book by the poolside (or in the pool if it’s really hot out), and sit out there for an hour or two. The only downside is that I am very pale, so trying to tan by the pool doesn’t always work in my favor!
  9. Order my favorite food
Lastly, one super easy way to spoil yourself is to splurge a little bit on your favorite food! I don’t order out for myself super often, so I usually consider it a special treat when I do. My go-to is typically Otaku ramen, as ramen one of my all time favorite foods.

And there you have it! Those are my nine go-to self-care tips. In reality, self-care can look a little bit different for everyone. For me, it’s doing things for myself that make me happy. Usually on my self-care days, I’ll try to implement a couple of these. For instance, today, I went shopping, got coffee, and played a game (Sims of course). And now, I’m feeling energized and ready to tackle the weekend!

What kinds of things do you do for self-care? I’d love to hear about it!

I hope everyone has a great rest of their day, and I’ll see you next week!
