Unashamed: Why we as Christians shouldn’t hide our faith

This is something that seems obvious, right? Yet, we still fail to talk about our faith in our day-to-day lives most of the time.

Romans 1:16-17 states, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ‘but the righteous man shall live by faith.”’

So why do we hide our faith? Why can it sometimes be an awkward conversation to talk about Jesus, even with other Christians?

Talking about our faith doesn’t have to be awkward. These days, religion is shunned in our culture, making us feel as if we cannot talk about our faith.

We have to take a look at the big picture. Are we going to please the world, or are we going to please God? Remember: The world is temporary, but God is eternal.

We should be shouting His praise from the highest mountain top for all the world to hear, not practicing our faith behind closed doors. We should be integrating our faith into everyday conversation with others. Try it today! Try to integrate your faith into a conversation with someone today.

God has done so much for us, and He loves us more than our minds can even fathom. This is why we should be unashamed! It is our role as Christians to share the love and word of God to the world—this is how we spread faith to others so that they may come to know God as well!

One song that reminds me of this is the song “Unashamed” by Building 429. This song is incredibly powerful, and it is an incredible reminder that we are called to be unashamed! I encourage you right now to go listen to that song and reflect with God and pray with Him.

Are you ready to take the stand? How will you show your unashamed faith to the world?

  1. I agree that it can be very difficult to talk about our faith. I think a good first step would be to start with your friends. Once you get comfortable with that then start talking with strangers.

    1. That’s very true! Friends and family are good people to have a conversation with at first, then, once comfortable, you can start talking with others.
